Manchester United - Newcastle LINK

  • Manchester United continued their great start to the Premier League season with a 4-1 win against Newcastle United to go top of the table. A brace from Cristiano Ronaldo on his second debut for the club and one goal each from Bruno Fernandes and Jesse Lingard were enough to hand Ole Gunnar Solskjaer\u2019s side all three points.\nWhile it was a comfortable win at the end of the day, the Red Devils were not quite at their best. Newcastle United were very much in the game for an hour.\nBut Manchester United were ultimately able to pull away on the back of the incredible individual talent that they possess in their squad.\nThere are quite a few new signings in this squad. And once everybody starts to gel together, this team could get even better. That is certainly a very exciting thought considering the fact that they are already at the top of the Premier League table.\nManchester United 4-1 Newcastle United: 3 things we learned\nHere are three things we learned as Manchester United came out with all three points from the game against Newcastle United with Ronaldo scoring a brace:\nManchester United need to be better defensively\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tJavier Manquillo of Newcastle United vs Manchester United. (Photo by Laurence Griffiths\/Getty Images)\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\nWhile the Red Devils are shining going forward at the moment, defensively, they still do not look the strongest.\nIn the past couple of games, they have given quite a few chances away. If Wolverhampton Wanderers had taken their opportunities, they most probably would have won the previous game. And while the game against Newcastle United ended in a comfortable 4-1 win at the end of the day, the Magpies did have the chances to score more on the day.\nOnce this combination at the back gels together though and the midfield pivot have formed a partnership, things could get much more solid at the back. Thus, there is cause for a lot of excitement for the future.\n\n \n Next:\u00a0Ronaldo and Pogba\n \n"},"title":"Manchester United vs Newcastle: 3 things we learned as Ronaldo shines","permalink":"https:\/\/\/2021\/09\/11\/manchester-united-newcastle-3-things\/2\/","shortCodeTitle":null,"content":"Paul Pogba continues his sensational form\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tCristiano Ronaldo and Paul Pogba, Manchester United. (Photo by Laurence Griffiths\/Getty Images)\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\nAt the start of the summer transfer window, there were questions about whether Pogba would remain at Old Trafford this season. He has remained at the club although he is yet to sign a contract extension.\nAnd considering the kind of football that he has been playing this season, the Red Devils would want him to extend his current deal as soon as possible.\nHe provided four assists in the Premier League season opener against Leeds United, before setting up another in the game against Southampton. And he provided a couple of assists against Newcastle United as well, to make it 7 from just 4 Premier League games this season.\nThat\u2019s more assists than he has provided in 3 of his previous 5 Premier League seasons since returning to Manchester United in 2016 in a then world record transfer deal!\nAt the top of his game, the Frenchman is one of the best midfielders in the world. And he is certainly playing like one at the moment.\nCristiano Ronaldo gets it done, once again\nOne could argue that Ronaldo was not at his best against Newcastle United. But like so many times in his legendary career, he managed to make the difference.\nFreddie Woodman probably could have done better with both of the goals, with him spilling the first one in the path of the Portuguese superstar while the second one went through his legs. But Manchester United fans will be delighted as long as the goals keep coming.\nMany have wondered whether at 36 years of age, Ronaldo will be able to adjust to the Premier League. Two goals from his first game back is certainly a brilliant start.\nThere will be tougher tests ahead but if Ronaldo can continue to find the back of the net throughout the course of the season then Manchester United must be considered as one of the favourites for the Premier League title this season.\n\n \n \n Must Read:\u00a0Cristiano Ronaldo beats Lionel Messi after Manchester United return\n \n \n"],"useSlideSources":true,"themeType":"classic","prevPost":"https:\/\/\/2021\/09\/11\/manchester-united-predicted-xi-newcastle\/","nextPost":"https:\/\/\/2021\/09\/11\/sir-alex-ronaldo-manchester-united\/","prevText":"Prev","nextText":"Next","buttonWidth":0,"buttonWidth_post":0,"postUrl":"https:\/\/\/2021\/09\/11\/manchester-united-newcastle-3-things\/","postId":62707,"refreshAds":true,"refreshAdsEveryNSlides":1,"adRefreshingMechanism":"javascript","siteUrl":"https:\/\/","prevText_post":"Prev post","nextText_post":"Next post"};(function ($) $(document).ready(function () try tpsInstance = new tps.createSlideshow(tpsOptions); catch(e) );(jQuery)); (function () // create the elements and set all attributes:var conversationScript = document.createElement('script');conversationScript.setAttribute('async', 'true');conversationScript.setAttribute('src', ' _FRPuvQgV');conversationScript.setAttribute('data-spotim-module', 'spotim-launcher');conversationScript.setAttribute('data-post-url', ' -united-newcastle-3-things/');conversationScript.setAttribute('data-post-id', '1865c2d2e5368e84621d43a3cef95844');conversationScript.setAttribute('data-spotim-multi-instance', true);conversationScript.setAttribute('data-article-tags', 'manchester united, manchester united news');conversationScript.setAttribute('data-disqus-url', ' -united-newcastle-3-things/#!');conversationScript.setAttribute('data-disqus-identifier', '62707 =62707');// append the elements to the container:var container = document.querySelector('#comments-wrapper-62707');container.appendChild(conversationScript);)(); Top StoriesRed Devil Armada 1 yearManchester United handed transfer blow by Borussia Dortmund
